High Street Church Zoom Worship with Dr. Hollis Phelps– August 7, 2022
Christian nationalism has emerged as a dominant, particularly powerful political narrative as of late. Briefly put, it’s goal to remake the country according to an ultra-conservative, right-wing interpretation of the Christian faith. This Sermon briefly outlines the main tenets of Christian nationalism and then, drawing on other, more progressive faith traditions, explores ways in which we might concretely counteract this threatening nationalism.
Dr. Hollis Phelps is an Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies at Mercer University. His most recent book is Jesus and the Politics of Mammon. Hollis is also married to High Street’s DRE, Paula Del Rio.
