We are a people of hope. Our mission statement says it, as does our theology of honoring the potential of humanity and possibility for positive change. What, then, does it mean to be a people of hope? Does it mean that we are eternal cheerleaders, who try to make people feel better, not for their sake but for our own? What is hope? Perhaps hope is less about cheap optimism and more about presence with whatever is.
We take a look at the UU Trauma Response Ministry and others as examples for how we might be that people of hope our faith calls us to be.
