Rev. Cassandra Howe – April 16, 2017
When I was a child my Nana (what I called my grandmother) would always take me to a salon to get my hair cut. I would get the full deal, including a shampoo and scalp massage. If I was lucky we would go for an ice cream treat afterwards. Today, even though she has been dead for over ten years, I still treat myself whenever it’s time to get a hair cut. It is my gift to myself. What if Easter was a story not so much of the miracle of a resurrection but of the beautiful and simple ways we keep a person alive by keeping their memory alive? Today we look at what it means to keep Jesus alive—his kindness to strangers, his love of people, his belief in the Kin-dom of God.
