Hannah Senesh writes, “Blessed is the match consumed in kindling flame.” What is the cost of one flame? Do we ever honor the match consumed by the lighting of our chalice? What about the larger meaning of our “chalice?” What about the sacrifices made in order to do the work of justice? Come hear the story of Waitstill and Martha Sharp who, under the direction of the Unitarian Service Committee helped save hundreds of Jews from Nazi Germany, and what their lives might mean for us today.
