Plato said “Let us be kind, one to another, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” It is tempting to think there is some fundamental difference between Democrats and Republicans. It sure feels that way right about now. Our country is at its peak on the polarization index. But deeper wisdom reminds us that really we are all human. We are all part of the same human family. We all have the same fears, needs, desires (at least the basic ones). What might healing look like in terms of our relationships across the political divide? How can we move beyond the “right versus wrong” towards a search for understanding of one another, all of us, in this great complex web of humanity?
